Patients With Migraines More Predisposed To To Suffer From Depression
People suffering from chronic headache, specifically migraines, are more prone to be depressed, feel worn-out, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a clinical investigation published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The medical study involved 1030 man who buy cymbalta at headache clinics in seven US regions. Of the woman surveyed, 677 reported episodic headache (less than 15 headaches monthly) and 343 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the people were diagnosed with migraines.
The study found patients with chronic headache were four times more likely than those with episodic headache to report symptoms of major Major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also two times more likely to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.
Among women tested with severely disabling migraine, the medical trial found the likelihood of major Atypical Depression increased 32-fold if the patient also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms will stir up or be a manifestation of major Atypical Depression in women with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Depression may heighten pain perception,” said clinical investigation author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This dependence between migraine and major Depression suggests a ordinary neurobiology.”
Tietjen says medical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Manic Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Regardless of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Manic Depression, psychiatric disease such as Manic Depression complicates headache management and can rouse poorer outcomes for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The medical research was countenanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American man suffer from headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 20,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to ameliorating women care through instruction and medical study. A neurologist is a osteopath with a wide knowladge of diagnosing, curing and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and frequent sclerosis.
